Isselkou Ould Ahmed Izid Bih: Only a few days before Nouakchott welcomes Africa, for the first time

Only a few days before Nouakchott welcomes Africa, for the first time

The President of the Republic, HE M. Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, signed, two weeks ago, the official invitations addressed to his African peers, to attend the 31st Ordinary Session of the Summit Conference of the African Union (AU), an ultimate step in the process of preparing for this historic event in our country. It should be noted that two missions of the AU Commission visited Mauritania to inquire about the level of logistical preparation for the first African Summit in Nouakchott. The reports produced by the various African sub-commissions (airport structures, welcome, transport, accommodation, new convention center, protocol-ceremonies, cultural activities, communication, centenary of the late Nelson Mandela and other parallel events ... etc) appreciated the level of preparation, attesting to the good public performances recorded over the last decade, in several key areas of development. In view of the confirmation of participation at the highest level, from many sister African countries and the firm intention of international guests who are keen to share with Mauritania and Africa, this privileged moment, already one thing is certain: the level of representation will be exceptional during this first African summit in Nouakchott. This is a precious opportunity offered to all Mauritanians, to prove to Africa and to the world their capacity for unity and solidarity when it comes to an event that serves the country, its past, present and future; an opportunity to showcase the originality of our civilization and the legendary hospitality that Mauritanians have inherited, generation after generation. I would like to emphasize here the vital importance of considering the hosts of the Summit, as the hosts of each Mauritanian, thus allowing every one of us to contribute to the greatest event in the history of the country, since its foundation, given the number and quality of participants. It is important, in particular, that every host of the African Summit in Nouakchott always feel the welcome and esteem in the road traffic, inside hotels, restaurants, markets and any other place where he will go, in support of the sovereignty of the country, its image, the dignity of its inhabitants and their vital interests. History will engrave in letters of gold, that a Mauritanian president has raised, in an exceptional way, the international stature of the country and allowed it to have confidence in itself, so much so that he will have succeeded the prowess of organizing two Arab and African summits, in less than two years, thank God...
